ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Somerset, and am honoured to be standing for Labour in North Dorset at this election.

I’m a charity campaigner, passionate about decent work and good jobs. Under my leadership, half of the FTSE 100 have made commitments to improve working conditions for their staff and supply chain workers.

As a former local councillor I know how to get things done. A vote for me on 4 July is a vote for someone who will roll their sleeves up and advocate for people right across North Dorset.

Outside of work I am a trustee of a local food bank. I know how hard people have been hit by the cost-of-living crisis, and if elected I want to work to end food bank use in our country.

As a dad to a young son, family means the world to me. Too often pursuing a political career means neglecting family matters. I want to show that being an MP and being a family man can go hand-in-hand.

a charity leader, passionate about decent work

Under my leadership as head of a charity campaign for decent work, more than half of the FTSE 100 made commitments on transparency and better working conditions. As North Dorset’s MP I will make sure the next generation of skilled, sustainable jobs are delivered to our area, as part of the next Labour government’s Green Prosperity Plan.

"As a Labour councillor James was an energetic and natural campaigner. He cares deeply about the issues facing our country: jobs, the NHS and the climate emergency. I’ve no doubt that he is the man to win for Labour."

Miatta Fahnbulleh - Chief Executive at the New Economics Foundation, Labour PPC for Peckham

a husband and dad

I was born and brought up in Somerset, and I’m now raising my own family in the west country. I understand first-hand the challenges young families face finding affordable childcare in our area. The last 14 years of Conservative cuts have trashed our childcare system. As your MP I will campaign for a comprehensive, properly-funded solution, to the benefit of all families across North Dorset.

ready to deliver for north dorset

As a former councillor, I know what it takes to stand for election – and to win.

Constituency polling shows Labour in a clear second place in North Dorset. Over the course of the election campaign I’ll be making the case for why Lib Dem and Green voters should lend me their vote, to help turn the page on 14 years of Conservative chaos.
